Lemony Chocolate Checkerboard Shortbread!

At first, Miss Mandee bo Bandee of Georgia is a skeptic!

But the goodness that is Lemony Chocolate Checkerboard shortbread finds approval with this sweet and sassy Southerner!



Bare Bones Recipe:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. pure lemon extract
2-3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 T. Dutch-process cocoa powder
1 large egg

Makes about 4 dozen
